Michel Camara

avenue des Villas, 45 - Saint-Gilles

peintre plasticien

Polyvalent afro-Breton artist - painter, sculptor, comedian, dancer - who experiences and reveals through different arts his human and cultural sensibility. With his roots in Guinea, he began his career as an actor at the age of 22 in the National Theater for Bretagne, played in Compagnie Dynoz, created his own Compagnie "Soleil Noir" in 1999 and joined as a capoeirist la Compagnie Ladainha. His lively and colourful paintings reveal the unorthodox universe of Camara, full of Celtic chimera, fancies in a spiral and rhythmical movements. Camara is revisiting the human face through classical portrait, icon, African presentification, auto-portrait, symbolic representation, caricature etc...
